SAii Koh Samui Villas Review: Total Zen

If you are considering the SAii Koh Samui Villas resort for your next trip, this review has all the information you need to decide if it’s the right choice for you. From rooms and amenities to dining and location details, we’ll take a closer look at all the elements that contribute to an unforgettable stay.

My husband and I stayed there for three nights in December 2024. We loved the resort’s boutique feel and the stunning villa-style accommodation, situated by a secluded beach on the island’s northeast coast.

SAii Koh Samui Villas is an adults-only resort, making it an ideal destination for a romantic getaway. It offers an intimate atmosphere that can be hard to find in larger, more traditional resorts.

If you are seeking a truly serene escape in Koh Samui, I believe, based on my personal experience, that this resort is sure to tick all your boxes.

Overview of SAii Koh Samui Villas

Hidden among tropical greenery and overlooking the picturesque Hanuman Bay beach—rarely frequented by anyone other than hotel guests—SAii Koh Samui Villas is an oasis of tranquillity and relaxation. Here, guests can enjoy luxurious accommodation, delectable dining experiences, and a variety of activities on both land and sea.

The resort makes full use of its stunning natural setting with tiered swimming pools, numerous sun loungers, and dining areas and bar seating that all offer sea views. This thoughtful design ensures you can always take a moment to appreciate the beauty of your surroundings.

My husband and I don’t typically seek out adults-only resorts, but SAii Koh Samui showed us why so many travellers prefer them over more traditional options. With the majority of guests being couples of varying ages, the resort maintained an incredibly calm and quiet atmosphere.

The fact that all guests have access to their own private pools at the villas meant there was never a rush to claim sun loungers in the morning, nor was there any noise around the main pool or dining areas. While these things don’t usually bother us, the peaceful environment was undeniably relaxing.

We were also thoroughly impressed by the levels of service at the resort. Hospitality in Thailand is excellent in general, but the team at SAii Koh Samui took it to the next level.

The staff at the reception, restaurant, beach bar, and beyond were all incredibly friendly, taking the time to chat with us and offering excellent tips on what to see and do in the area. These interactions with the team made our stay feel even more special.

Resort Facilities

The resort’s facilities are clustered near the beach, allowing you to easily move from the restaurant to a sun lounger, to a swimming pool, and then to the bar. There’s some music playing to enhance the chilled atmosphere—don’t worry, it’s not too loud.

The resort offers direct access to Hanuman Bay beach, a compact but scenic stretch of golden sand fringed with swaying coconut trees. As you step into the water, there’s a drop in depth relatively close to the shore. This wasn’t an issue for me as I’m a confident swimmer, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re not.

The seabed is a little rocky, so you might want to wear water shoes for protection. I didn’t, and I didn’t encounter any problems. There’s also a coral reef in the sea, which is excellent for snorkelling.

The stylish pools at SAii Koh Samui are another highlight. They are tiered, so you can enjoy scenic sea views from either one. The upper-tier pool even has swim-up access to the bar. I particularly loved the inflatable flamingos, which were fun to use for a relaxing float in the pool.

There’s a wide variety of seating options to suit different preferences, including sun loungers, bean bags, and daybeds with uninterrupted sea views—unsurprisingly, these were quite popular.

For a break from the sun, guests can make use of the lending library, which offers a selection of books and board games. It’s a lovely spot to relax, especially if you get caught in the rain.

For those looking to stay active, the resort features a fully equipped gym. However, if total relaxation is what you’re after, I recommend booking a treatment at the resort’s Len Spa.

Rooms at SAii Koh Samui Villas

My favourite part of staying at SAii Koh Samui was the private villas themselves. They vary in size and orientation, with some offering direct access to the beach, but all featuring private pools.

My husband and I stayed in a deluxe pool villa surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. The interiors were modern yet seamlessly connected to the tropical setting, with natural materials and earthy colours throughout.

We loved how spacious the sleeping and bathroom areas were. The large, comfy bed was a dream to sleep on, and plenty of storage ensured we could easily organise our belongings. The beautiful freestanding bath was another fantastic touch of luxury.

The his-and-hers vanity units and the spacious waterfall shower were great features that made our stay feel even more indulgent. I also adored the M.I.Y. toiletries, which had the most amazing tropical scents.

We were greeted with a delightful welcome composition on the bed by the SAii team (the towel elephant was just too cute!), fresh coconuts, and a platter of cakes and tropical fruit. There was even a hand-written note wishing us a great stay. We paired the treats with premium Singha teas and Nespresso coffee.

The generous courtyard, complete with a cosy daybed and a private pool, was an absolute highlight. This, combined with room service, meant we didn’t need to leave our villa at all to enjoy privacy and seclusion. It truly felt like our own personal slice of paradise.

Food and Drink: SAii Beach Club

The food and drink offering is delivered through the SAii Beach Club concept, which encompasses multiple dining spaces, the pool bar, and an extensive selection of dishes to delight all palates.

Other exciting dining features include the option of arranging a floating breakfast or an afternoon tea featuring charcuterie and cheese boards in your pool villa. Relax in your pool with a glass of bubbly in hand and capture those picture-perfect moments for Instagram.

For those seeking romance, the team can organise a private dining experience right on the beach. Savour a candlelit dinner with a choice of sumptuous set menus, including seafood, Thai cuisine, or an East-meets-West fusion.

Breakfast

In the morning, breakfast is served at Bean/Co, although seating is also available at the library, Miss Olive Oyl, and the beach terrace, which offers uninterrupted sea views—the best seats in the house!

Bean/Co typically serves coffee, tea, sandwiches, and cakes during the day, but during our stay, the café space was only open for breakfast. However, its brunch menu, featuring hearty sandwiches and indulgent waffles, was still available throughout the day at the other dining areas.

The breakfast spread included delicious baked goods, Thai and Asian hot dishes, tropical fruits, pancakes, waffles, cold cuts, and cheeses. On some mornings, smoked salmon was also served.

There is a live egg and noodle station where you can have an omelette or a noodle soup prepared to your liking. My favourite feature, however, was the ever-changing daily specials, which offered the chance to try a variety of cooked breakfast dishes, including eggs Benedict and Spanish eggs. This variety ensures you’ll never get bored during your stay.

Lunch & Dinner

SAii Beach Club offers multiple dining options for lunch and dinner, including Bean/Co and Miss Olive Oyl, the Mediterranean-inspired restaurant. However, the food choices are not limited to these two venues.

Guests can enjoy menus from all the dining brands across SAii resorts, including Mr. Tomyam and Terra & Mar. Mr. Tomyam features an extensive menu of pizzas with nearly any toppings you can imagine, while Terra & Mar offers classic Thai dishes such as soups, curries, and stir-fried noodles and rice.

During our stay, we enjoyed romantic dinners under the stars on the beach terrace, sampling various Thai dishes. One evening, we opted for a three-course Thai dinner that included mouthwatering satay skewers, deep fried prawn cakes, and aromatic red and green curries.

I also tried the delicious roti with golden thread, served with Thai tea ice cream. It was my first time experiencing this dessert, and I loved the sumptuously balanced sweetness and the delightful combination of textures.

While there is ample seating in the resort’s dining areas, guests can also enjoy their meals right at their loungers. We took advantage of this service one day, savouring a delicious Parma ham pizza from the Mr. Tomyam menu without having to leave our sun loungers.

Pool Bar

The mixologists at the pool bar craft creative signature cocktails inspired by the tropical scenery of Koh Samui, as well as timeless classics like the Aperol Spritz and Cosmopolitan. For those who prefer to avoid alcohol, mocktails and non-alcoholic spirits are also available.

Pool bar with the swim up section

I particularly enjoyed their selection of delicious juice blends, which provided the perfect refreshment for the hot afternoons. I highly recommend the SAii Super Blend, a sumptuous combination of mango, pineapple, and lychee juice.

Just like the food, drinks can be delivered straight to your loungers. Alternatively, you can savour them at the swim-up bar area in one of the pools.

Activities

If you fancy a break from lounging by the pool or the sea, you can borrow snorkelling gear or a kayak to explore Hanuman Bay. These are complimentary, but it’s considerate to limit your usage to an hour so other guests can enjoy them as well.

On Monday and Saturday mornings, you can join complimentary yoga classes by the beach. These sessions are suitable for all fitness levels, but be sure to book your spot in advance via the resort’s app.

If you’re keen to venture beyond the resort grounds, you can take advantage of the in-house tour desk. From boat trips to nearby islands to visits to elephant sanctuaries, there’s plenty to explore during your stay in Koh Samui.

Location

SAii Koh Samui Villas is located in a quiet, secluded spot between Choengmon Beach and Chaweng, the island’s main town. Just outside the resort, you’ll find a few local restaurants, supermarkets, and traditional Thai massage parlours, but overall, it’s a low-key area.

Twice-daily transfers to Chaweng are available if you’d like to do some shopping or experience the town’s lively nightlife. After the tranquillity of SAii Koh Samui, the busy main streets of Chaweng felt quite chaotic to us.

A busy street in Chaweng

That said, Chaweng boasts a great shopping mall, a night market, and numerous bars and restaurants. The beach is long, although it becomes quite narrow during high tide. It’s certainly worth a visit during your stay, especially if you’re looking for some action.

Twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, the resort also offers transfers to Fisherman’s Village, a shopping and dining area by Bo Phut Beach. On these days, the area hosts a popular night market. I personally preferred Fisherman’s Village to Chaweng, as it had a more upmarket feel, great beach bars and a beautiful beach.

The journey to both destinations takes around 15 minutes. Transfers cost 100 baht (US $3.00) per person one way and can be easily arranged via the resort app.

Final Thoughts

If you’re seeking perfect tranquillity in a tropical setting, combined with easy access to dining, shopping, and nightlife, I believe SAii Koh Samui Villas is an ideal choice. Its luxurious villas with private pools are exactly what you need to escape from it all.

For the best rates and exclusive offers, I recommend booking directly through the SAii Koh Samui Villas website.

I’ve been fortunate to visit several SAii properties across Thailand.
